Living History Camps For Schools

The Lads from the 79th and the Lassies from the Caledonian Relief Society create "Living History Camps" throughout the year, to help educate local students about the Civil War by giving them "hands on" experiences. The students learn to march, perform the manual of arms with authentic Civil War muskets, put up tents, build a fire and cook their own meal using the same foods that were common during the war, and may other activities. They learn what life was like for soldiers and civilians during the Civil War, one of the United States' most defining periods.

We provide the Living History Camps free of charge to any local Junior High or High School. We do gladly accept donations to offset the cost incurred to put on these living history camps

If you are a teacher and are interested in having us work with your class, contact information is available on our "CONTACT" page on our website's Homepage. We have limited availability, so contact us as soon as possible.
